Two new MLS franchises fought an epic battle on Sunday evening. It was a fast moving and exciting 90 minutes, filled with many surprises and plenty of goals. New York City FC walked away as winners, and are now up 2 places in the Eastern Conference table.</p>

Two new MLS franchises fought an epic battle on Sunday evening. It was a fast moving and exciting 90 minutes, filled with many surprises and plenty of goals. New York City FC walked away as winners, and are now up 2 places in the Eastern Conference table.</p>

After a first half of near misses from both sides, captain <b>David Villa</b> put New York City FC in the lead 1-0. Defender <b>Angelino's</b><span style="font-weight: normal"> long ball ended up with</span> <b>Villa</b> who took one touch and blasted it straight into the goal.</p>

The second half was full of goal scoring, with Orlando City SC's <strong>Cyle Larin</strong> pulling off a fantastic hat trick and having scored all of the goals for his team.</p>

<span style="font-weight: normal">Midfielder <strong>Andrea Pirlo</strong> made his debut with New York City FC as a subsitute in the 56th </span><span style="font-weight: normal">minute, welcomed by a huge applause from the crowd and a high-five with his former AC Milan teammate <strong>Kaka</strong> who was playing for Orlando</span>.</p>

<strong>D</strong><strong>avid Villa</strong> scored yet again in the second half to even the scores, but midfielders <strong>Javier Calle</strong>, <strong>Thomas McNamara</strong> and <strong>Mix Diskerud</strong> finished the job with the help of <strong>Pirlo</strong>, leaving New York City FC as winners at 5-3.</p>
