Top Teams Face Off in Semi Finals

USA and Germany are the two most successful teams in Women's World Cup tournaments having both won twice. They are also the top 2 ranked teams in the world. Tonight, they battle for a place in the final and it is not going to be an easy match for either of them. Both teams have the potential to move onto the finals and become champions for a third time, but who can do it?

USA and Germany are the two most successful teams in Women's World Cup tournaments having both won twice. They are also the top 2 ranked teams in the world. Tonight, they battle for a place in the final and it is not going to be an easy match for either of them. Both teams have the potential to move onto the finals and become champions for a third time, but only one can.

Germany beat France in penalty shootout's in their quarter final match, and so therefore there is a chance that the team will be tired and worn out from the extra time spent in their last match. The American's have the opportunity to wear them out after their 120 minute match.

However, it could go the opposite way and they could bring the fight they were missing in that match to beat the USA.

USA seemed to be very strong against China in their last match, but will need to bring a little more attack and power if they want to break through Germany and move on to the finals. With well rested midfielders' Lauren Holiday and Megan Rapinoe back in the picture, this is definitely a possibility.

Both USA and Germany have extremely strong goal keepers – USA's Hope Solo and Germany's Nadine Angerer – so the defence is very strong on both sides, especially as the USA have only conceded one goal in the entire tournament so far.

Overall, the USA have an advantage over Germany as they have the majority of wins against the #1 ranked team. Although it has been stated that statistically Germany have a 57% chance of winning, the USA never let numbers define their future.

The match kicks off on Tuesday June 30th at 19:00 local time.

It'll be nearly impossible to correctly predict how this match is going to turn out with such equally strong teams, but our guess is USA 2-1 Germany after an epic fight from both sides.
