England go head to head against Canada to close the quarter final matches. Canada have the upper hand as they will be playing on very familiar turf, but we are yet to see England's full power and they may well be saving it for tougher opponents.
England
Coach Mark Sampson's Lionesses have rocketed through the World Cup so far with now 3 wins and only 1 loss. England (ranked 6th) will be aware that Canada (the host country ranked 8th) are quite a strong force to compete with, but they may use this opportunity to bring the fight everyone's been waiting for from them.
Defender Lucy Bronze and defender and captain Steph Houghton saved the day in their round of 16 match against Norway by scoring 2 goals in the second half. No single player has dominated the goal scoring which just goes to show how well they work as a joined force.
Canada
Canada have had a lot of luck on their side as they made it to the quarter finals with 2 wins and 2 draws. They are a tough team, and of course have the advantage of being on home grounds, but will they bring their A game to secure a spot in the semi finals?
English born coach John Herdman has brought the team a lot of success, and with the force of captain and forward Christine Sinclair, the team are very fired up and hungry for the championship.
The game kicks off on Saturday June 27th at 16:30 local time. It is going to be a very close match between the two teams, but after the strength that England have shown and their history against Canada, our prediction is England 2-1 Canada.
