WWC 2015: USA vs Colombia Match Preview

Tonight the USA take on Colombia in what is set for a big match up. With the winner earning themselves a place in Quarter Finals of the World Cup.

The USA have been in good form during this World Cup, managing to win 2 out of 3 in their group. While Colombia managed one win but against France! This will still be a very tight affair.

Over the past few days a rivalry has started between the USA and Colombia. Which does add some extra-spice to the game.

USA:

The USA are currently ranked 2nd in the World and were undefeated at the group stages. There will be an extra incentive for striker Abby Wambach as she has the chance to equal Marta's 15 World Cup Goals, should she score tonight. Manager Jill Ellis will be urging her team to play quick, passing football to outplay their physical opponents. While Hope Solo has had some good performances so far and she will hope to repeat these against the Colombia.

Colombia:

Colombia will go into tonight's game playing a physical match as they have done in previous games against England, Mexico and France. Against the French this style earned the Colombians a huge win. Which they will be hoping to repeat against the USA.  Lady Andrade has been one of the most dangerous threats so far and has been known to play a very physical game. So head coach Fabian Taborda will be trying to make sure the players keep their heads tonight, while playing their physical style that has got them to this stage in the competition.

Our Prediction: 2-1 USA
