Germany vs Ivory Coast: Match Preview

On Sunday 7th June, we will be graced with what is hoped to be an intense match between Germany and Ivory Coast. See our preview and match predictions!

On Sunday 7th June, we will be graced with what is hoped to be an intense match between Germany and Ivory Coast.

Germany will be a tough team to pass through this year, being the top ranked team by FIFA. Their longtime coach Silvia Neid is due to leave her position next year, and it is certainly her hope to go out with a bang.

The Germans won the 2007 Women's World Cup with Neid by their side, but unfortunately then lost the 2011 tournament, on their own turf, to Japan. Nadine Angerer - one of our top players to look out for - is their starting goalkeeper, who has 134 caps, and already lead Germany to 2 European Championships and their World Cup win in 2007. The team are looking strong and ready, and there's no doubt they will mean business.

This year marks Ivory Coast's debut Women's World Cup after they finally qualified by coming third in the Women's African Cup. Forward Ines Nrehy has scored the team a total of 13 goals in her 17 caps, and will be one to watch for.

However, despite this success for the team, they are ranked very low at 67th. It will be a tough game for the team, especially as their debut game will be against the team right at the very top...

This means our prediction for the match is 3-0. What is your prediction? Let us know on our twitter page, using our dedicated hashtag #wwc15df.

The match kicks off on Sunday 7th June at 16:00 local time, and you can find our complete group stage and knock out charts in our Resource Centre.
