Saturday marks the first ever New York Derby. With heavyweights New York Red Bulls taking on the newly formed New York City FC.
New York Red Bulls:
The Red Bulls will be looking to win the derby and increase their league standing currently sitting in 3rd in the Eastern Conference. Only winning once in their last 5 matches. One of the stars hoping to cause New York City an upset will be Bradley Wright Phillips who has been in good form this season. With the Red Bulls at home during the fixture that will be an added bonus. Manager Jesse Marsch will be hoping to get one over on the local rivals and solidify his sides league position.
New York City:
New York City FC have fared worse than their rivals and are currently in 8th position. However, manager Jason Kreis will know that with the quality of David Villa and Mix Diskerud he has the chance to change the sides fortunes and win the first New York derby. Although neither side can predict how the derby will turnout and just how fierce a rivalry this could be.
The derby will signal one of the largest in the MLS in one of the biggest cities. A good atmosphere is expected from both fans but just how heated the match will get on the pitch only time will tell...
The Match kicks off 7:00pm Eastern Time on Saturday.
