The match set-up to be an interesting friendly and it didn't disappoint. The USA went into the game knowing it would be tough one as they were going up against Switzerland (who are currently ranked 12th in the World).
Klinsmann showed he intended the USA to contribute a more defensive approach to the game lining up with a 4-4-2 formation. The American's started the game well making sure they moved the ball quickly with possession and pressured Switzerland when they lost it. Brek Shea embodied the USA's first half performance when he put in a superb free kick just before the break.
The sides went it at half-time with the score at 1-0. Once both sides came out the match appeared to intensify. Which did get to some players and concluded in Jozy Altidore being sent off in the 68th minute.going. Despite going down to 10 men the USA were able to keep Switzerland at bay.
However, the USA conceded in the 80th minute. Marking their eighth time in eight games that the US conceded a goal in the 80th minute or later.
While the match ended in a 1-1 draw both sides had impressive passages of play and the USA will be looking to build on their result against Switzerland.
